KS3 History homework

This year for homework students in year 7 and 8 will be given a homework booklet.

The booklet contains all of their history homework for the year

Inside each booklet there are

  • Knowledge organisers - one per unit studied. Students should aim to learn all information on these and revise from them regularly. They will be regularly tested on the knowledge they contain in lessons and assessment
  • Key words for each units - Students should know the definitions of these words and how to spell them
  • Substantive concepts - These are key terms used in history lessons across many topics from year 7 to year 11. Students should start learning these words and how to spell them.
  • Details of the history competitions running this year including the Year 7 castle building and Year 8 trench building
  • A log to record extending knowledge reading, viewing and visits completed along with suggestions of what to do. An extended list of suggested YA historical fiction can be found on the reading page on this blog.
  • Meanwhile elsewhere homework sheets. These are designed to extend students' knowledge of the history happening across the world at similiar time periods to those we are studying in class. It is suggested that one is completed every two weeks. A deadline chart is included with these to show when they must be completed by.
